The Boring Cafe x Sprino Tea in Rivonia is a relaxed spot where café culture blends seamlessly with bubble tea and Taiwanese eats, making it more than your average coffee stop. Located on 9th Avenue in Edenburg, the space strikes a balance between quiet corners ideal for working or reading and a casual hangout vibe that welcomes small groups catching up over drinks.

This place caters well to both coffee lovers and bubble tea enthusiasts. Locals appreciate it not just for its reliably good espresso but also for inventive drinks like the Ocean Breeze Deluxe and fruity iced teas with grape jelly that add playful texture without overpowering. Bubble tea here feels rooted in authentic Taiwanese tradition, which some patrons note with genuine appreciation, especially as they occasionally pair their drinks with dishes like beef noodles or duck rice—items that hint at a growing menu beyond beverages.

The atmosphere benefits from intentional design choices: ample plugs for laptops, thoughtfully chosen furniture, and a layout that encourages settling in without feeling isolated. This makes it a popular spot for remote workers and students during weekday afternoons, while early evenings bring a slightly livelier buzz as friends gather to unwind.

Those familiar with Taiwanese flavors living locally might find a comforting nostalgia in snacks beyond bubble tea, including offerings like stinky tofu and calamari balls, which aren't commonly found in Johannesburg cafes. The mix of a collectible corner and toy store elements alongside the café adds an unexpected local character, making it a good stop for those curious about local lifestyle infusions rather than just a place to get a quick drink.

Overall, The Boring Cafe x Sprino Tea suits anyone looking for a versatile space that combines working, casual dining, and authentic Taiwanese beverage culture. Best times to visit seem to be weekday mornings to early afternoons for a productive but relaxed setting, or early evenings for a casual spot to meet friends without the typical café rush.

Boring cafe has a lot of variety of drinks from coffee to bubble tea. Additionally, they also have a traditional Taiwanese food menu and we decided to order some. The food does taste authentic and very delicious. A great cafe to work at, have a drink and have something to eat.

Place to plug your laptop in, delicious drinks, and a great ambiance. The fist place in South Africa that could put an espresso in bubble tea. A new favorite that I would recommend to anyone. P.S They paid extra for great furniture, which makes for a great seating experience. 10/10

The Boring Cafe has become one of my favourite place for bubble tea, apart from your typical bubble tea, there were iced fruit teas with grape jelly that’s perfect when it touches your palate As a Taiwanese born, and growing up in SA, stinky tofu, deep fried blood cake and calamari balls are things of nostalgia. BUT DAMN they make it well! The tonkatsu (panko crusted pork cutlet) meal set along with its special dipping sauce was also a huge hit. Would recommend all! Brace yourself for the stinky tofu because it’s lethal but oh-so-delicious

Heard about this place on Instagram, and was not disappointed! The staff were super friendly. They have a nice variety of drinks and food. I really enjoyed my vanilla latte. Next time, I will definitely sit down for food ! They also have pop mart and other blind boxes for sale. Will definitely be back !
